Nowhere I want to be

Posted by theresaanna on December 11, 2007

Dream: Mother, freelance web developer, some time to knit

Reality: Single, sharing 4br apt, very full time non-development job, holiday projects stuck at 1/3 done

I’d been at a loss on what to say for my life for awhile. This pretty much sums it up

When you know you have a problem

Posted by theresaanna on November 20, 2007

I’m going to be headed back upstate for under 30 hours for Thanksgiving. I have a total trip time of about 6-7 hours. I am bringing four different projects, along with a bottle of Aleve to soothe my sore hands.

I am, in fact, clearing out my usual shoulder bag to house all of my projects, photocopied patterns and box of notions.

I almost forgot to pack underwear, but thats okay because I could probably knit myself a pair with everything I’m bringing.

Also, I am more excited about getting my Blue Moon Fiber Arts order than I was to see Bright Eyes.

Progress from the subway

Posted by theresaanna on November 17, 2007

Peekaboo Mittens 2 are moving, mainly out of desperation for warm hands. Jaywalkers are not.

Went to Purl to pick up a sixth skein for my mom’s cardigan and scored some Blue Sky Alpaca Silk for a scarf for a friend.

My prayers have been answered! A book of lace stitches! I’m thinking of the diagonal ridges stitch for the Alpaca Silk. I also scored the Vogue Knitting Sock Book, though I had intended to get the Interweave Knits 25 Favorite Socks… I honestly like the patterns in this book better (except embossed leaves – I really would have bought the book for that). Also, its got a bunch of sock history and tips and a generic toe up pattern with suggestions for stitch patters to use for the top of the foot/leg.

Speaking of mom’s cardigan, its starting to actually look like a sweater. Not that you can tell, cause here it just looks like a mass of yarn.

Things to look be happy about:

Seeing Bright Eyes at Radio City on Monday!

Ordering some Socks that Rock!

New haircut! This is me trying not to look miserable:

Weekend Recap

Posted by theresaanna on October 28, 2007

Well, yesterday was quite a day. My MacBook cord started BURNING and MELTING on Thursday night, and with the premier of Leopard I wasn’t able to get a Mac Genius appointment until Saturday afternoon. Which worked out fine, because they were able to actually replace it in store instead of having to wait a week for it to ship.

Today’s lesson, kids: If you have a MacBook, watch the cord near the connector. If you see any splitting, its probably starting to burn on you.

So, since I had to go to SoHo to the Apple Store anyway, I figured I may as well go yarn shopping. :)

Yesterday was the boy’s birthday, and I have resolved to have a hat finished for him today. My progress so far:

It’s Cabled Force (careful, it’s a PDF). In Blue Sky cotton. Which is what I think I’m going to make my mom’s Christmas sweater in. More on that later.

Also, I GOT MY VERY FIRST KOIGU!!! Yes, I shelled out.

Anyone have any good suggestions for a corresponding sock pattern

Plus, I raided the 50% off bin at The Point. And walked away with:

Some GGH ribbon yarn and Rio Del Plata Handspun, Kettle Dyed yarn. These WILL be knit together, into what I don’t know. Suggestions?

In other news…

Work is going GREAT. I’m very happy about it. Yesterday, as I said, was the boy’s birthday, and the drinking was very necessary after this past week.

I don’t have much to say about me. Work is crazy, but mostly good. Life is crazy. Tired. Quitting smoking for the second time. No knitting. Not much of anything.

This, however, is the best thing I’ve seen in a long time.

Oh, hey, anyone. I’m thinking of making a layout for this thing. Someone want to give me some lose inspiration? It could be a word, image, whatever. I just need a starting point.
